HUNTSVILLE – The Mississippi Valley's baseball team took game two 2-1 of their four game series against the Alabama A & M Bulldogs. In game two, the Delta Devils pushed passed AAMU 11-10 in 12 innings.
The Bulldogs scored quickly, bringing in one runner during the first. Both teams were scoreless in the second and third innings.
Mississippi Valley tallied their two runs during the fourth inning. Quitman Smith doubled to left to score Chris McWright, Smith advanced to third and home on a wild pitch.
Game Two:
Alabama A&M started scoring quickly, landing two runs in the first and three in the second. Mississippi Valley responded with one run in the second, third and fourth. Fredrick Spencer singled to center field to bring in Chris McWright. In the third, Drew Wheeler doubled to center field to score Caleb Lindsey. In the fourth, a triple by Marshall Parish scored Spencer.
Alabama scored five in the top of the fifth. The sixth inning was scoreless and the Delta Devils exploded with four in the seventh. Wheeler homered over the left field and Alex Bravo scored on the play. Justin Neese singled to right field to score Arrington Smith. Quitman Smith grounded out to the second baseman but he earned an RBI for Neese.
MVSU scored an additional three runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the contest at ten. Smith singled to right field to score Connor Sheppard. McWright walked and Smith scored on a wild pitch. Spencer sent a spiraling sacrifice fly to right field and Gabriel Waddell scored.
In the 12
th inning with loaded bases Waddell walked and Bravo came home to score the game winning run.
