ITTA BENA – The rubber match between the Delta Devils and Hornets of Alabama State proved to be a rocky day for Mississippi Valley as they dropped the contest 28-1.
MVSU relinquished three runs in the top of the first on two homeruns. The contest was scoreless in the second and third innings, but in the top of the fourth ASU scored 15 runs to take control of the contest.
The Hornets scored two in the fifth and four in the sixth. The Delta Devils' lone run came in the bottom of the sixth when Chris McWright sent a sacrifice fly to left field to score Arrington Smith.
Alabama State scored four additional runs in the top of the seventh to secure a run rule victory. ASU finished with 28 runs on 20 hits and no errors while MVSU tallied one run on five hits and no errors.
