JACKSON – The Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils traveled to Jackson, Mississippi, to face the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Eastern Division's number two seeded Tigers of Jackson State University. The Tigers were able to clinch the win 6-2.
MVSU landed the opening blow, scoring in the top of the first and holding Jackson State scoreless in the bottom of the inning, as well as the second. Mississippi Valley's run in the first came on Arrington Smith stealing home for an unearned run.
In the third inning, JSU scored three runs to climb into the driver's seat for the remainder of the contest. An additional run in the fourth gave the Tigers a 4-1 advantage over the visiting Delta Devils.
MVSU's final run came in the fifth inning when Gabriel Waddell singled to third base to score Fredrick Spencer. Jackson's final two runs came in the bottom of the seventh.
The Delta Devils and Tigers will faceoff again on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
