CLINTON, Miss. – The Delta Devils and Devilettes are drawing closer to the 2017 Southwestern Athletic Conference Cross-Country Championship, thus each invitational is a chance to grow stronger. The Mississippi College Watson Ford Cross-Country Invitational proved to be a great testing ground for both teams.
On the men's side, Jaleel Turner finished first and 10th overall for the Delta Devils with a time of 27:47.57. Darius Fortune took second for MVSU with a time of 35:19.47.
Joseph Mitchell (37:53.02) and Nicholas Alexander (39:36.24) rounded out the numbers for Mississippi Valley.
On the women's side, Scolasticah Kemei raced to a frist place finish overall and first for the Devilettes, with a time of 23:25:60.
Alice Kimutai concluded the race in second for MVSU and fourth overall, with a time of 24:38.45. Derrica Pitters took eighth overall in 25:46.07. Autezia Sellers (26:46.32), Fantasia Ard (30:01.04) and Ajani Williams (32:41.43).
The Devilettes completed the event with an overall time of 2:10:37.48, with an average time of 26:07.50, for a second-place finish.
