MEMPHIS – With the season heating up, Mississippi Valley's men and women's cross-country teams have turned up the heat. The Devilettes completed the Rhodes College Cross-Country Invitational with a combined time of 1:44:23; averaging 20:53 for an 11th place finish. The men's were able to grab 16th place finish amongst stiff competition.
On the men's side, Jaleel Turner finished first for the Delta Devils with a time of 27:51.5; teammate Timothy Misoy finished just behind him with a time of 28:41.7.
Darius Fortune completed the race in 36:49.0, while Joseph Mitchell (39:00.4) and Nicholas Alexander (41:18.4) rounded out the numbers for Mississippi Valley.
On the women's side, Scolasticah Kemei raced to a ninth place finish overall and first for the Devilettes, with a time of 19:14:2.
Alice Kimutai concluded the race in second for MVSU, with a time of 20:28.6. Mya Dumpson (21:00.4), Autezia Sellers (21:31.3), Derica Pitters (22:07.8), Fantasia Ard (23:03.5), and Kenya Davis (26:02.2) rounded out the numbers for Mississippi Valley.
