LORMAN, Miss. – It was a rough day for the Delta Devils football team. The team traveled to Lorman, Mississippi, to face the Southwestern Athletic Conference Eastern division leader, in the form of the Braves of Alcorn State University. Unable to get the offense to running fluidly, MVSU fell 59-0.
The Braves started scoring early and took a decisive lead, and the Delta Devils were unable to respond with end zone trips. Scoring a touchdown in every quarter, with the exception of the fourth, Alcorn kept the score out of rally range. In the final quarter, the Braves were able to notch a 22-yard field goal to complete scoring for the contest.
Inside the pocket, Dewayne Betts proved to be a formidable opponent, completing ten of 24 passes for 158-yards, despite giving up three interception. Steven McIntosh recorded 78-yards on three receptions, while Quinn McElfresh. tallied 73-yards on four receptions.
Defensively, Delorean Parker paced the team with 11 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for a loss of seven and 0.5 sacks for a loss of four. Bryant Jones forced one fumble and completed the contest with seven tackles and 1.5 tackles for a loss of four yards.
Mississippi Valley returns home to face Alabama State University on November 18
th. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
