SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. – The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State University continued the Utah, portion of their opening week, with the University of Utah Runnin' Utes. Utah was able to heat up quicker to gain a 91-51 victory.

The Runnin' Utes opened the contest with a 12-0 run, to take an early lead. A jumper by Arinze Anakwenze, who was assisted by Dante Scott at 16:31 started the scoring for Mississippi Valley. Utah was able to score an addition eight-points before the Delta Devils were able to respond. Jordan Evans and Gemaal Davis scored back-to-back in-the-paint jumpers to increase Mississippi Valley's points.

The Delta Devils gained traction and climbed back into the contest, closing the gap to 10-points at the 9:21 mark. Utah blazed bright in the final minutes of the half, taking a 41-21 lead into the break.

In the second half, Mississippi Valley started scoring with a free-throw by Lorenzo Hunt and a three-point basket by Tereke Eckwood. Nate Nahimy was sent to the line for two at 16:53, where he made both. The Delta Devils were able to put up more points during the second half, but they were unable to overcome the point deficit.

Davis scored 13-points for MVSU, while Evans tallied eight and Eckwood added seven.
