CHICAGO – The men's basketball team traveled to Chicago, Illinois, to take on the Ramblers of Loyola University Chicago. Despite a strong first half, Mississippi Valley succumbed in the second half, en route to a 63-59 loss.
In the first half, the Delta Devils engaged the Ramblers from one end of the court to the other, forcing turnovers, and scoring baskets. At buzzer signaling halftime, MVSU took a 31-28 lead into the locker room.
The second half proved to be a little more difficult as Loyola Chicago turned up the heat in every aspect of the game, outpacing Mississippi Valley 35-19. Despite the low points during the second, the Delta Devils weren't overwhelmed and were still within striking distance of the lead.
Entering the final media timeout (3:56), the Ramblers were up by 15-points, after a three-pointer by Donte Ingram.
Mississippi Valley continue to press and were able to close the gap, however, they weren't able to form a complete rally before time expired.
Tereke Eckwood lead the Delta Devils with 15-points and two steals, while Gemaal Davis and Davere Creighton tallied eight and seven points respectively. Dante Scott finished with seven rebounds for Mississippi Valley.
On November 25th, the Delta Devils will travel to Birmingham, Alabama, to face Southeastern Louisiana University. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 pm.
