ITTA BENA, Miss. - Mississippi Valley State (8-25, 5-12 SWAC) kept its tournament hopes alive with a sweep of Alcorn State (3-39, 0-18) Monday night.
Kalin Barnes led the Devilettes with 18 kills and 14 digs. With the performance, Barnes became the first SWAC player to record 300 kills and 300 digs this season. She was one of five MVSU players with at least 10 digs, with Taylor Selfridge posting a team-best 16 digs to go with seven kills. Terrea Sims posted 15 digs, Jessica Bell added 13 digs, and Jaime Polk posted a double-double with 23 assists and 12 digs.
Singryd Valadares led Alcorn with seven kills. Pai Iosia posted nine digs and five kills for the Lady Braves. Majest Ferguson posted 26 assists and eight digs. Kaylyn Latin led all Alcorn players with 13 digs
