Delta Devils and Bisons Set Diamond on Fire

ITTA BENA, Miss. – (Baseball) Mississippi Valley and North Dakota State started their Saturday doubleheader at 11:00 am, with an overcast sky. The threat of rain did nothing to deter the two teams as they made their bats sing.
 
MVSU got off to an impressive start with a two-run homer by Jackson Webb, Ivan Garcia scored on the play, taking the Delta Devils up 2-0. NDSU was able to clamber into the contest with a three-run inning. In the fifth both teams scored two runs, with MVSU clinging to a narrow 6-5 lead.
 
NDSU was able to squeak in one run in the sixth to tie the contest. With no additional runs scored in regulation, the game went into extra innings. It was in the top of the tenth, that the Bison's were able to seal the contest with three runs. NDSU won the contest 9-6.
 
In game two, the Delta Devils jumped ahead 1-0 on a run by Kevin Gonzalez. In the second, the Bison's scored three runs for a 3-1 advantage.
 
The third and fourth innings were slow, with neither team scoring. In the fifth NDSU score two and an additional four in the sixth. MVSU scored twice in the bottom of the sixth, to wrap up all scoring.
 
Dustin Stewart took the loss for MVSU on the mound, as he allowed three runs on four hits in four innings.
