ITTA BENA, Miss. – (Baseball) The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State opened their 2017 campaign with the North Dakota State University Bisons. MVSU fell 10-4, in the first of a four-game series.

It was a slow start for Mississippi Valley, as they were unable to score until the fourth inning, yet NDSU scored six runs between the second and third innings.  

In the fifth, both teams were able to score three runs each. Those were the final runs by the Delta Devils but the Bisons scored one more one in the eighth, to wrap all scoring.

Kevin Gonzalez's homer was a highlight for the Delta Devils' offensive efforts.

Connor Sheppeard was credited with the loss on the mound for the Delta Devils, as he allowed six runs and seven hits.
