MONTGOMERY – (Men's Basketball) The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley demanded attention in Montgomery, Alabama, when they squared off against the Hornets of Alabama State University. With the second swing of conference play, the Delta Devils are looking to climb up in SWAC rankings.

Despite keeping it close, MVSU saw the victory slip from their grasp as ASU walked away with a 71-66 win. Marcus Romain landed 18-points, six rebounds and two assists to fuel the Delta Devils' efforts. Isaac Williams scored 17-points, five rebounds, three steals and one assist. Ta'Jay Henry tallied nine-points, five steals and three assists.

In the first 20-minutes on the clock, both teams were limited in their scoring and it wasn't from lack of trying. Both teams continued to toss shots at the goal, many of which bounced back for a rebounding opportunity. The score entering the locker room was 32-30 in favor of Alabama State.

The second half was merely a continuation of the first. The teams were able to score with more accuracy; however, the points weren't that high. With the contest within reach, Mississippi Valley scrambled to score points and pressure the ball when on defense. The method worked, the Hornets were restrained, yet they managed to score enough to secure the win.

The Delta Devils will host Alcorn State University of Saturday, February 11 at 4:00 p.m.
