ITTA BENA – (Baseball) Mississippi Valley's first game of three against the Jackson State Tigers ended 5-3 in favor of JSU.
The opening inning was quick for both teams, with neither team scoring. Jackson was able to score once in the second, twice in the third and another in the fourth.
A homerun in the fourth by Arrington Smith scored two runners, with Jackson Webb coming in on the play. In the sixth, Webb scored once more on a Christopher McWright's single to left field.
With the score 4-3, the Tigers scored an additional run in the seventh, creating a two-run cushion.
Dustin Stewart received the loss for the Delta Devils on the mound.
