ITTA BENA – (Men's Basketball) The Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils entered the Stribling-Harris Court with their season on their backs. MVSU was in a do-or-die situation and the person standing in their way were on the other side of the court.
The Delta Devils handle business to the tune of an 88-77 victory and with the shake-up around the conference, moved from ninth to seventh.
In the opening half, MVSU dominated 44-36. UAPB opened the scoring, however a three by Marcus Romain took the lead for Mississippi Valley. After a brief struggle for footing, the Delta Devils built a steady lead over the opposition.
The second half was merely a continuation of the first, as MVSU continued to run away with the contest. From Ta'Jay Henry's steady rebounding to Isaac Williams shooting from different angles, the Delta Devils were unstoppable.
Williams finished with 28-points, six-rebounds and three steals, while Marcus Romain sizzled with 23-points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Rashaan Surles and Henry wach recorded 15-points. Surles added six-rebounds, three assists and two steals. Henry also added nine-rebounds and two steals.
Mississippi Valley will face the Braves of Alcorn State University on March 7, 2016 in Lorman, Mississippi.
