Delta Devils and Devilettes Turn Up the Heat in Metairie

METAIRIE, La. – Great things are happening with the Mississippi Valley cross country teams. The All State Sugar Bowl Cross Country Festival allowed MVSU to show their skills.

Today's meet proved to be a learning curve, as the Delta Devils and Devilettes were pitted against conference and inner state foe, Jackson State.

On the men's side, Jaleel Turner finished first for the Delta Devils with a time of 17:24.7; teammate Timothy Misoy finished just behind him with a time of 17:56.3.

Darius Fortune completed the race in 21:15.1, while Joseph Mitchell (22:07.1) and Nicholas Alexander (23:34.4) rounded out the numbers for Mississippi Valley.

On the women's side, Scolasticah Kemei continues her domination, as she not only finished first for Mississippi Valley but won the overall festival with a time of 18:48.7.

Alice Kimutai concluded the race in second for MVSU and eighth overall, with a time of 20:444.8. Autezia Sellers (21:53.5), Mya Dumpson (22:54.3), Derica Pitters (23:16.1), Jala Allen (25:00.3), Kenya Davis (25:42.3), Fantasia Ard (25:57.3) and Ajani Williams (28:42.7) rounded out the numbers for Mississippi Valley to give the Devilettes a second-place finish.

The next stop for the MVSU cross-country teams is Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.
