HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University fought hard but came up short in a loss to Southwestern Athletic Conference leader Alabama A&M on Monday.
Scores of the match were 25-17, 25-15, and 25-17.
Tyler Caliste led the Devilettes with eight kills, followed by six from Tylia Dixon and five from Terrea Sims. Taylor Selfridge handed out 22 assists for Valley.
The match at Alabama A&M concluded a two-match trip through Alabama for the Devilettes; Valley also visited Alabama State on Sunday. The Hornets won that match by scores of 25-13, 25-12, and 25-9.
Caliste led the Devilettes (5-26, 2-14 SWAC) with six kills Sunday, while Jessica Bell led the defensive effort with 13 digs. Selfridge handed out a team-high 12 assists for Mississippi Valley State.
The win improved Alabama State (16-17) to 13-2 in SWAC play.
Selfridge also recorded five digs in the match for Mississippi Valley State. Kalin Barnes chipped in seven digs for the Devilettes.
