JACKSON (Baseball) – The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley took on the Tigers of Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi, to open conference play. In the first game of the three-game series, the Delta Devils were unable to sustain their lead, dropping the contest 16-4.

Mississippi Valley finished the contest with four runs, five hits and two errors. Dustin Stewart took the loss for the Delta Devils on the mound.

In the top of the first, MVSU's Wendell Rieves singled to score Willie Johnson and Aaron Barkley. Up by two in entering the first, Mississippi Valley held the Tigers to one run in the bottom of the inning.

In the third Rieves sent a long ball to left field, doubled and scored Morgan Lomax.

Jackson was able to score seven in the third and eight in the sixth to secure the victory. The contest ended in the seventh.
