MONTGOMERY (Baseball) – The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley and the Hornets of Alabama State went toe-to-toe on the baseball diamond, splitting the doubleheader. In game one, ASU clinched a 2-0 victory and game two belong to MVSU as they cruised to a 10-7 win.
Game 1:
Mississippi Valley tallied two hits and one error. Dustin Stewart was credited with the loss for the Delta Devils.
The only runs of the contest was in the first inning, was Alabama State's two runs.
Game 2:
MVSU started scoring in the opening inning with two runs. Alabama State responded with three in the bottom of the inning. In the third, two runs were scored in the top of the third. In the fifth, the Delta Devils exploded with six runs.
The Hornets scored four in the bottom of the eighth.
Nicholas Johnson was phenomenal on the mound and was credited with the win. Aaron Barkley earned his second save of the season.
Quavante McGregory tallied three runs on three at bats and two hits. He was also credited with one RBI and two walks.
Morgan Lomax and Wendell Rieves each earned two RBIs.
