NEW ORLEANS (Baseball) – Mississippi Valley State and the Tigers of Grambling State went toe-toe on the diamond through nine innings. Entering the sixth, the score was 4-3 in favor of the Tigers. 
Mississippi Valley took an early lead in the top of the first with a single by Aaron Barkley  to score Quavante McGregory. (1-0) Grambling responded with a single run to knot the score at 1-all. GSU scored twice in the second to take a 3-1 advantage into the third.
In the top of the third, Mississippi Valley responded with two runs of their own. Jeremiah Barr homered down the right field line, scoring Barkley on the play. With the homer, MVSU and GSU were tied at three each.
In the bottom of the inning, Grambling State scored again to take a one point lead. They were also able to score three in the sixth and seventh innings. They wrapped up the contest with four runs in the eighth.
Mississippi Valley scored twice in the seventh. McGregory sent a long ball over the center field wall, scoring Jancarlos Aponte on the play. 
McGregory paced the Delta Devils, in two at bats, he recorded one hit, one walk, two runs and two RBIs.
Dustin Stewart recorded the loss for the Delta Devils on the mound.
MVSU finished with five runs on six hits and two errors. The final score was 14-5.
