ITTA BENA (Baseball) – Game one of the Mississippi Valley and Alabama State three-game series ended with the Hornets capturing the contest 6-5.
The intensity of the competition was compelling to watch as both teams entered the contest seeking to maintain their footing in conference standing. Alabama State is currently first in the East and the Delta Devils are third.
The opening run was a homer by the Hornets in the top of the first. Mississippi Valley responded in the bottom of the inning with two of their own runs. With three runs scored in the top of the third, Alabama State reclaimed the lead, 4-2.
Mississippi Valley was able to regain the lead in the fifth with three run, 5-4. In the sixth ASU knotted the score at five and in the seventh they took the lead with one run.
MVSU finished with five runs on seven hits and one error. Nicholas Johnson took the loss on the mound for the Delta Devils.
