Green Nets 21 as MVSU Falls at North Alabama

FLORENCE, Ala. - Michael Green scored a game-high 21 points as Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball team dropped their seventh consecutive road game to start the season 73-50, to North Alabama on Wednesday in Flowers Hall. The Delta Devils are 0-7 this season and the Lions have a 3-4 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MVSU led for the first four minutes of action against the Lions. Green opened the afternoon with a three-pointer followed by Jordan Lyons hitting a shot from the field for a 5-1 lead.
  • The Lions answered and took a 12-7 advantage until Green's second shot from long range cut the deficit down to one score by the 10:00 mark.
  • Caleb Hunter's jumper prior to a steal and fast-break layup for Torico Simmons tied things up at 16 with 9:12 left in the first half.
  • Green gave the Delta Devils their final lead of the game with a field goal as MVSU led 22-20. From there, MVSU went cold going without a single point for the final 6:50 of the first half.
  • North Alabama forced three turnovers in the final minutes and went on a 15-0 run carrying a 35-20 lead into halftime.
  • The Lions led the entire second half and built a 26 point advantage (61-35) with 7:17 left to play.
  • Green carried the scoring load down the stretch with 12 second-half points knocking down a pair of three-pointers for MVSU.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • MVSU had a season-high 50 rebounds and had their second-highest steal total with six against North Alabama.
  • The Delta Devils struggled with only three made free-throws shooting 20 percent (3-15) from the line.
  • For the fifth time this season, Green scored 20 or more points while tying a season-high five rebounds. He was 9-of-20 from the field and had five rebounds playing the entire 40 minutes.
  • Lyons grabbed double-digit rebounds for the third time finishing with 10.
  • Brandon Kimble led the Delta Devils in rebounding with a season-best 13 boards while scoring six points.
  • Hunter scored nine points and went 2-for-4 on free-throws.
  • Simmons came away with four steals and scored five points for the Delta Devils.
