BATON ROUGE, La. - The Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team will face No. 1-seed Southern in a quarterfinal round matchup at the SWAC Tournament this Tuesday evening. The No. 8-seed Devilettes will play Southern at 7 p.m. Southern swept the two-game regular-season series with MVSU.

MVSU enters the SWAC Tournament with a 6-23 record, closing out the season with two consecutive wins. The Devilettes secured two road victories during conference play, at Arkansas Pine Bluff, and at Grambling. MVSU completed the season sweep of the Lady Tigers with a convincing 79-61 win at home. In the regular season finale, MVSU hosted the Lady Golden Lions and won 82-63.

Seniors Kristy Parker (10.8 ppg) and LaKendra Bassett (10.6 ppg) have been MVSU's go-to scorers. Parker has scored in double figures in 19 of 29 games and reached the 1,000-career point milestone in their win over Grambling at home. Bassett ranks in the top-3 of the conference in assist/turnover ratio, assists, steals, and triple-doubles.

Ticket prices for Tuesday's quarterfinals at 7 p.m. are $15 for reserve and $10 for general admission.
