The Harrison HPER Complex was rocking for this conference opener between The Lions of UAPB and our very own Delta Devils.
The Devils jumped out to a seven point lead midway through the first half after a three pointer by Zachary Barnes assisted by Torico Simmons, who also was the team's leading scorer finishing with 23 points.
The Devils ended the first half with the lead, and held it for the beginning of the 2nd half. Then with 5:22 in the 2nd, Simmons ties the game with a miraculous tip-in to bring the score to 62 a piece. From there the Lions went on an 11-0 run to make the score 73–62 with 3:21 to go in the game.
From that point the Lions never relinquished the lead, and despite the efforts of The Devils they couldn't pull it out.
The Devils were in foul trouble all evening and it was a huge factor to say the least.
Jordan Lyons ended the game with twelve points and ten rebounds to give him his first double-double of the season. Senior Michael Green ended with eleven points and two rebounds.
The Devils will be back in action at home on January 18th as they will travel to Montgomery, Alabama to face Alabama State in conference action.
