Itta Bena, Ms.- Delta Devils lose a tough one as they fall to the Tigers of Jackson State by a score of 85-65 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday evening.
Before the game both teams paid tribute to NBA Legend Kobe Bryant and the 8 other passengers, in recognition of the tragedy that took place on Sunday morning outside of Southern California.
Once the game tipped off Jackson State surged to a quick 11-0 lead causing the Devils to battle from behind the entire contest.
Michael Green lead the way for Mississippi Valley with 23 points, three assists and one steal and Quinton Alston added ten points and six rebounds.
Despite those numbers for the Delta Devils, it wasn't enough to match the 25 points and nine rebounds for Roland Griffin, and the 16 points and nine rebounds for Jayveous McKinnis of Jackson State.
The Delta Devils are back at home on Monday for a match up against conference foe, Grambling State. Tip off set for 7:30 p.m.
