Itta Bena, Ms.- The Delta Devils come up short to Alabama State by a score of 87-74 in Southwestern Athletic Conference game on Saturday evening.
Mississippi Valley held the lead for the entire first half and took a 36-34 advantage into the locker room.
The second half was a different story, Coach Lindsey Hunter stated that his team came out flat after the break and it showed on the court. Alabama State went on to take as much as a 19 point lead with 4:26 to go in the game.
Quinton Alston lead the Delta Devils with 22 points and ten rebounds in 34 minutes of play. Torico Simmons finished with 19 points and seven assists to go along with his five defensive rebounds.
Jacoby Ross finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead all scorers in the game. AJ Farrar and Leon Daniels both had 19 points to round out the scorers for Alabama State.
The Devils will be back in action on Monday night as they host Alabama A&M for a conference game. Tip-off set for 7:30, or 30 minutes following the Women's game.
