Itta Bena, Miss.-The Southwestern Athletic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll was announced on Tuesday, which is based on the percentage of student-athletes with a 3.0 grade point average or better.
 
A total of 119 Mississippi Valley State student-athletes were named to the 2019-20 SWAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
 
"We are extremely proud of our student-athletes, our academic staff and coaches for their commitment to academic excellence, said Director of Athletics Dianthia Ford-Kee. Ms. Lila Grooms and her academic staff work tirelessly to assist our student-athletes with managing athletics and academics.  We clearly know that most of our athletes are not going to compete on the professional level.  We emphasis the importance of competing at the highest level in the classroom to prepare them for their professional careers."
 
The Delta Devil football team had 25 student-athletes honored followed by 21 from the softball program. Both the women's track & field/cross country and soccer teams placed 12 student-athletes on the honor roll while 12 members from the baseball team also earned a spot. The men's track/cross country squad had 8 student-athletes recognized along with 11 from the women's basketball team.
 
Men's basketball along with men's tennis placed three (3) student-athletes on the honor roll followed by six (6) student-athletes from the women's tennis team and volleyball team respectively.
