Itta Bena, Miss.- As we venture closer to another Mississippi Valley State Football season; this season feels different. In the third season of Vincent Dancy coaching era, this is the most hype and excitement the Delta Devils have had in a while. A program filled with tradition looks to continue laying the building blocks to return to the days of NFL Greats Jerry Rice, Deacon Jones & Ashley Ambrose.

The journey for Southwestern Athletic Conference supremacy begins September 5th against Nicholls State, with the home opener being September 19th against Alcorn State University in a statement game against the reigning SWAC Champion. While the Delta Devils lost some firepower in All-SWAC first team linebacker Tracy Thompkins and All-SWAC second team defensive back Jonathan Jones, the cupboard is certainly not bare with returning All-SWAC second team defensive lineman Jerry Garner, and wide receiver DJ Clayton along with a host of incoming freshmen looking to make their mark.

Coming off a tough 2-9 season, there were signs of improvement and close games that instilled confidence in the coaching staff for a memorable season this year. As these players come together to form what Delta Devil fans hope will be a formidable opponent this season, the question is which player will become the next in a line of MVSU gridiron legends. The stage is set, the hay is in the barn and in a little over 2 months' time, records from last season mean nothing as the 2020 season kicks off.

What to expect from this season nobody knows, all I can say is with Coach Dancy leading the way, Coach Jared Powers instructing the offense, and Coach Derek Welch leading a super hungry defense; Valley fans "Get Your Popcorn Ready."
