Delta Devils Come Within Inches Of Upsetting Rattlers

ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State football program had fourth-and-one from the FAMU 17 down three with less than four minutes remaining and went for it. Caleb Johnson had a hole but the stud running back tripped and came up short as Florida A&M escaped The Valley with a 31-28 nail biter.

Markell Gladney became the second defender to log a touchdown in 2021, falling on a fumble in the endzone for six points while adding an additional six tackles, one for loss.

Keonte' Daniels had an absolutely destructive afternoon, posting a game-best 11 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss plus an interception in which he returned 37 yards the other way.

Andrew Bloodsaw joined Daniels in having a huge day in the secondary, finishing second in tackles at nine and notching a pick himself.

Ronnie Thomas was a football magnet, both punching a fumble loose and recovering one that was jarred free by Jeremiah Caine.

Jacory Rankin lit up the FAMU defense to the tune of four catches for 147 yards and a touchdown, accounting for all but 68 of Jalani Eason's 215 passing yards and averaging a ludicrous 36.8 yards per reception.

Caleb Johnson and Dederrian Williams each hit paydirt on the ground with the latter fronting the way with 63 yards on just seven totes, good for nine yards per rush.
