Berthelot & Fullerton Both Notch Double-Doubles As Comeback Falls Short

 
ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University volleyball program got career-best performances from the trio of Chardea Berthelot, Jeila Fullerton, and Sydney Ross but were unable to climb out of a two-set hole, dropping a thriller to Alabama A&M in five.

Senior middle blocker Chardea Berthelot went on a killing spree against the Lady Bulldogs racking up a career-high 16 kills plus a personal-best 14 digs for her first ever double-double. She also went off for a team-high three service aces to go along with three assists as she filled the stat sheet.
 
Jeila Fullerton had an equally impressive evening, posting an absurd 20 digs and 15 kills (both career-highs) with just three errors (34 attacks) for an eye-popping .353 hitting percentage.
 
Sydney Ross was only one dig away from joining her teammates in recording their first career double-doubles, impressing with 17 assists and nine digs while tacking on four kills and three blocks to her total.
 
Keymara Coleman finished two digs off the pace for a double-double in her own right, logging 11 assists and eight digs.
 
In her second-to-last home match, Kiya Garza had a night to remember as well with 18 digs on top of seven assists and even landed a kill.
 
Victoria Mallard threw a block party at the net all game long for the Delta Devilettes, contributing five block assists and a solo to double-up the next closest student-athlete (Ross with three).
 
Coach Mariah Prince and MVSU will bid farewell to graduate student Kiya Garza as well as seniors Victoria Mallard, Destini Banks and Chardea Berthelot on Thursday evening when it hosts Jackson State on Senior Night with a 6 p.m. first serve.
