ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University women's basketball program will be the opening act of the season's first of many doubleheaders with the men as the Northwestern State Lady Demons come to The Delta at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Mississippi Valley State Overview
 
MVSU is top-35 nationally in turnovers forced per game (21.33), second in the SWAC for free-throw percentage (73.0) and ranks third in the league regarding both turnover margin (2.17) and three-pointers a night (6.3) six games into the 2021-22 campaign.
 
Ronni Williams has been iron woman for Coach Walker-Johnson, leading the conference by playing 35.47 minutes per contest while dishing out the second-most assists (3.8) and swiping the second-best steals per game (2.00) average in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
 
Mikayla Etienne is on top of the SWAC leaderboard in terms of steals a night at 2.33 while topping the squad with 14 total steals and 13.2 points a game.
 
Zakiya Mahoney is nipping at Etienne's heals for top scorer on the team, dropping 13 points on average while also swiping two steals a night while Annya Moss currently paces the Devilettes with four blocked shots.
 
Kerrigan Johnson has proven to be one of the conference's best from downtown, averaging the most triples in the league (2.33) while knocking down the second-highest percentage of those attempts (41.2).
 
Sarah Moore has been the go-to rebounder for the Green and White, corralling eight boards per contest to slot in fourth leaguewide.
 
Scouting The Opponent: Northwestern State Lady Demons
 
NW State was pegged to finish last in the Southland after a dreadful one-win season in 2020-21 but have quadrupled their win total already over the first seven games with victories over Centenary (La.), Texas A&M-Texarkana, Louisiana Christian, and MVSU's next opponent; Arkansas State.

The Lady Demons have rode rebounding, free throws, and turnovers to its 4-3 start, garnering 43 boards per game, a SLC leading 75.8% free-throw percentage, and a huge turnover margin of 5.57.

Jordan Todd has been the catalyst for the Purple, White, and Orange, accumulating four double-doubles and 4.1 offensive boards per game to rank top-25 in the NCAA to go along with a conference-best 1.43 blocks a night.

Monette Bolden is the Lady Demons' top scorer and stealer, averaging 12.3 points and 2.00 steals per ballgame, respectively.

Candice Parramore has been one of the best free throw shooters in the nation so far, cashing in on 92.3% of her attempts (24-of-26) to place 15th in the country while averaging double-figures in scoring (10.9).
