ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball program had five student-athletes cross the ten-point threshold against the Red Wolves, playing its best game of the season despite losing on the scoreboard, 82-77.

- Caleb Hunter had an excellent evening, posting a game/season-high 20 points and eight field goals on 38% shooting while recording his first block of the year.

- While Hunter was the top scorer, Gary Grant was the more efficient of the two, dropping a season-best 18 points and eight field goals including his first career three-pointer to go along with an 61.5% field goal percentage plus a team-high six boards.

- David McCoy swiped a game-high four steals, went a perfect 4-for-4 from the line, and scored a personal-high 15 points.

- Terry Collins notched his first double-digit scoring effort of the campaign on top of his first two threes of 2021-22 while topping the squad with four assists.

- The fifth and final Devil with double-digit scoring was Robert Carpenter who kept his season-long streak of ten-plus points alive with exactly that amount.

- John Aguer went for personal-bests of three assists and his first career multi-steal outing (2) with Daniel Umoh picked up his first career takeaway as well.Â
Notes
- The game was a back-and-forth battle that saw nine lead changes and six ties.
Â
- MVSU won a lot of the analytical categories such as the turnover battle (24-16), points off turnovers (31-16), bench points (28-22), points in the paint (42-34), and fast break points (21-17).

- One area in which the Devils did not win was a backbreaker, foul trouble. Valley committed ten more fouls than the Red Wolves (28-18) and ASU took 26 more free throws than the Green and White, making 28 freebies to MVSU's nine.

Head Coach Lindsey Hunter's men have a week to prepare for a rematch with the Colonels from Nicholls, completing the home-and-home on Saturday in Thibodaux, Louisiana at 3 p.m. inside Stopher Gymnasium.
