THIBODAUX, La. – The Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball program played good defense, but Nicholls hit contested shots times and time again to put the game out of reach, knocking down 14 threes plus 60% overall from the floor to win.

• Gary Grant had one of, if not the best game of his debut season, registering a season-best 19 points, the first multi-block and three-pointer contest of his career (2 of each) and shot 50% on field goal attempts.

 

• Caleb Hunter had a team-best four assists while adding another ten points to the scoreboard while he, Grant and Elijah Davis co-led the squad in rebounds at four.

 

• Three different Delta Devils had firsts against the Red and Gray as Jordan Johnson drained the first bucket of his 16-game career, Alex Perry made his 2021 debut with five minutes, a pair of boards and rebounds plus an assist while Jonothon Barnes got his first taste of NCAA action over five minutes as the freshman plucked a steal.
