PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball program was looking to get Head Coach Lindsey Hunter a delayed birthday present with a victory (he turned 51 Friday) but Grand Canyon played the role of party pooper in a 91-44 win.

  • Robert Carpenter notched his fifth double-digit scoring outing in five games, topping the Green and White with 12 points with MVSU's only block of the night plus three boards and a 4-for-4 night from the line.
 
  • Devin Gordon tied his season-bests of four rebounds and a pair of three-pointers over 32 minutes and change of game time.
 
  • Gary Grant was superb in limited action, averaging more than a point per minute as he posted ten points over nine-plus minutes as well as going 4-of-6 (66.7%) from the field.
 
  • Elijah Davis contributed a team-high three assists while John Aguer and David McCoy picked up the club's two steals.
 
Notes
 
  • Unfortunately, Valley was on the wrong side of history as the Antelopes' 47-point victory over MVSU was its largest ever over a NCAA Division I opponent.
 
After grueling opening month of being road warriors, the Delta Devils will finally get its long-awaited home opener, Thursday at 3 p.m. versus 2020-21 Southland Champs, Nicholls State University.
