MVSU Baseball Hosts Jackson State

Itta Bena, Miss.- Mississippi Valley State baseball hosted their third conference series in Itta Bena, Mississippi with a three-game series against in-state rivals, Jackson State Tigers.
 
Game 1
L 3-12
 
The Delta Devils tallied six hits on 30 at-bats and scored three runs. The run support was provided by Antonio Walker as he contributed three RBI's on the day. Jason Jimenez and Mychael Jamison both had multi-hit ball games, Jimenez scored two runs and Jamison scored the third run for the Delta Devils. Ethan Charles got the opening series start. In nine innings of work he gave eleven hits, five earned runs, and seven walks.
 
Game 2
L 0-9
 
In game two of the series the Delta Devils were shutout at the plate, as a team they had 31 at-bats and were only able to get four hits. Defensively the Delta Devils committed two errors. Nicholas Johnson got the start in game 2 of the series. Johnson pitched great and kept the Delta Devils in the game. In six innings of work Johnson allowed eight hits, three earned runs, and had five strikeouts. Hunter Stallings came in out the bullpen and in three innings of work he allowed two hits, four earned runs and three walks.
 
Game 3
L 1-13
 
In the last game of the series the Delta Devils tallied three hits on 30 at-bats. The lone run was scored by Antonio Walker which gave the Delta Devils lead in the 3rd inning. James Walton picked up his first hit of the season. Isaiah Valenzuela had another great outing in six innings work he allowed two earned runs, five hits, five walks, and had six strikeouts.  Angel Maldonado came into relief for 1.2 innings he gave up four earned runs, four hits, and three walks. Johnathan Yandrich made his first appearance on the bump, and in 1.1 innings the freshman allowed four earned runs, three hits, and two walks, and also received his first collegiate strikeout.
