Mississippi Valley State Top Performers

  • If Robert Carpenter would have made one more of his free throws, he would have joined Marcus Romain in being the only players to be perfect with ten-plus attempts since 2016-17, going 10-of-11 (90.9%) from the charity stripe including some clutch buckets down the stretch. The Detroit native went for a game-high 26 points and three steals while fronting the Delta Devils with seven rebounds as well as a 61.5% field goal percentage (8-of-13).

  • Elijah Davis shot 4-for-6 (66.7%) and tallied his second double-figure scoring game of his career, producing 11 points plus a team-best four assists.

  • Devin Gordon followed up his 32-point, nine-three barrage with season-high six boards and his second straight double-digit scoring output (13), third of the campaign.

Notes

  • This was Mississippi Valley's first overtime win since 2017 when it stole one from Jackson State, 70-67.

  • The Green and White cashed in on 26 free throws over 33 chances, the first time it's made 20-plus in three years.

The men from Itta Bena will look to make it a Lone Star sweep on Monday evening against Texas Southern inside H&PE Arena at 7:30 p.m.
