Perez & Weaver Combine For Five Hits In Setback

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Mississippi Valley State University baseball program got six hits on the evening, five of which came off the sticks of Maury Weaver and Angel Perez in a 12-3 defeat at Florida A&M on Friday.

  • Prior to this season, Perez had two career hits to his name. In four of the ten games he's appeared in this year he has either tied or exceeded that total in a single ballgame including Friday's matchup in which he went 3-for-4 with a run scored.
 
  • Weaver logged his second straight multi-hit outing and fifth of the campaign with a 2-for-4 showing plus a run driven in.
 
  • Eric Johnson II was the other Diamond Devil with an RBI on the day, bringing home Dreylin Holmes on an RBI single back up the middle.
 
  • The duo of Holmes and Narvin Booker each reached base twice thanks to a pair of walks apiece while Chris Soeder coaxed a base on balls as well.
The men from Mississippi will attempt to even the series Saturday afternoon with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. CT and 2 p.m. local time from inside Moore-Kittles Field.
