Berthelot Records Third Career Double-Double, James Gets Defensive At Miles


FAIRFIELD, Ala. – The Mississippi Valley State University volleyball program saw veterans Chardea Berthelot and Seerdyn James put up gaudy numbers, but the Lady Bears took the match in four sets.

  • Berthelot is starting to heat up heading into conference play, logging double-figure kills (10) and digs (10) for the second time in her last three matches.
 
  • James had a career night on the defensive side of the net, putting up a personal-high 21 digs for a quality 5.25 pet set average.
 
  • Shaela Mosby moved her benchmark in kills a little bit higher with a season-best eight on the evening while Torre Giron added her first career multi-ace outing to the resume (2).
 
  • Tyler Caliste made her presence felt all throughout the stat book, notching nine kills, eight digs, three assists, plus a service ace.
 
Notes
 
  • Caliste reached a career milestone over the weekend at the Tougaloo Tri-Match, surpassing 500 kills during her time at Valley State.
 
  • Berthelot now owns both double-doubles put together by MVSU student-athletes this season, earning her first one against Tougaloo College on Friday with 14 digs and 13 kills.
 
  • The Devilettes outserved the Lady Bears with eight aces compared to their six to go along with both clubs produced exactly 58 digs each.
 
MVSU opens up its SWAC slate on Sunday afternoon inside the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex as the Devilettes host Alabama State for a 2 p.m. first serve.
