ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State athletics program is preparing for its busiest weekend of the 2022 fall season with football and cross country on the road as well as home matches for soccer and volleyball, including volleyball's SWAC / Home Opener.

Saturday, September 24:
Â
Cross country will take its talents to Choctaw Trails at 8 a.m. to compete in the Watson XC Classic hosted by Mississippi College, its second meet of the regular season.
Â
Softball will begin the 2022 fall campaign with a doubleheader on the campus of Belhaven University as it takes on a pair of local community colleges with Southwest Mississippi CC at noon, immediately followed by Copiah-Lincoln CC at 2 p.m. on McLeod Field.

Football kicks off conference play with the 11th-ranked Jackson State Tigers down in the Magnolia State Capital with game time set for 1 p.m.

Sunday, September 25:

Soccer gets underway bright and early for its final non-conference clash of the season when it hosts fellow HBCU Chicago State in a rare 10 a.m. morning clash in the Delta.

Volleyball ends a nine-game road swing to start the year and jumps right into SWACtion as it welcomes Alabama State to the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex at 2 p.m. in the squad's conference and home opener.

Monday, September 26:
Â
Volleyball takes on the other Yellowhammer State representative, Alabama A&M, at 6 p.m. with its eyes set on a 2-0 start in league play.
