ITTA BENA - Miss. - Mississippi Valley State former baseball standout Fulton Carson will become the first Mississippian to officiate the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, January 9.
Carson was born in Vicksburg and has been in the business of officiating for over 25 years. The former MVSU baseball standout received his start in 1995 with the MHSAA. He later officiated games in the ASC, SWAC, Southland, Mountain West, and currently with the Big 12.
Carson recently officiated the Big 12 championship game. His daughter, Shelby Carson, is set to begin her first full season with the MVSU softball team in February.Â
