ITTA BENA, Miss. - The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils (2-16, 1-3 SWAC) made a steady comeback in the second half to pick up MVSU's men's basketball program's first conference win over Texas Southern Tigers (4-13, 0-4 SWAC) on Monday evening, 71-67.
MVSU earned its largest lead of the game with 1:12 left in the second half when Kadar Waller made an inside jumper that gave MVSU a 68-65 lead. Danny Washington put the game away for MVSU at the free throw line with 0:19 left on the clock, 71-67. Waller and Rayquan Brown were the leading scorers for the Delta Devils with 16 points each.Â

Kadar Waller recorded 16 points, one assist, and one rebound.Â
Rayquan Brown recorded 16 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and one steal.Â
Terry Collins contributed to the 13 points to the scoreboard for MVSU. He registered six rebounds, three steals, and two assists.Â
