ITTA BENA, MS – The Mississippi Valley State University Athletics Director Hakim McClellan announce the promotion of Antwoine Williams Sr. to Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations.
Antwoine Williams Sr., a native of Greenwood, MS, is about to embark on a new chapter in his already impressive career. Known for his dedication, unwavering commitment, and boundless enthusiasm, he was more than ready for the challenges that lay ahead.
Antwoine had been a fixture at Mississippi Valley State University for many years, having initially started as the Athletic Academic Counselor/Life Skills Coordinator from 2015-2018. His roots run deep in the community, where he currently resides.
Williams' journey through education was a testament to his determination and passion. He earned his associate degree from Mississippi Delta Community College in 1998, laying the foundation for his academic pursuits. A few years later, he proudly earned his bachelor's degree in 2001 from Mississippi State University. However, the lure of his hometown and the institution he would soon call his alma mater beckoned, and in 2018, he received his Master's in Sports Administration from Mississippi Valley State University.
Beyond his academic achievements, Antwoine's dedication to his community was a testament to his character. He had been a former board member of the Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District, working tirelessly to improve educational opportunities for local youth. For 18 years, he had volunteered as the Director of the Greenwood Youth Sports Program and was a supporter of the Boys and Girls Club, where he inspired countless young minds to dream big. Additionally, Antwoine is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, a reflection of his commitment to excellence in all facets of life.
From 2015 to 2018, he served as a Lab Facilitator at Mississippi Delta Community College, providing valuable guidance to young African American men navigate their way through college.
As the news of his promotion to Associate Athletic Director of Internal Operations spread through the Mississippi Valley State University campus, there was a palpable sense of pride and anticipation. The university recognized not only his dedication and love for the game but also his remarkable contributions to the community that had raised him.
