ITTA BENA, Miss. - The Mississippi Valley State Diamond Devils close the home-opening weekend series against the Golden Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff with a victory on a sunny Sunday afternoon, 16-3, with ten runs in the sixth inning.
The offensive firepower by the Diamond Devils from leaders Dreylin Holmes, Davione Hull, Jordany Ofarril-Ortiz, Davon Mims, Maury Weaver, and Holmes, all driving in runs in the frame.
Hunter Stallings was on the mound for the Diamond Devils. The righthander went six innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out four, and walking one.
"We came out with some intensity today with pride in protecting our home field," said head coach Milton Barney. "We did all the little things well, and Stalling had another great performance on the mound."
MVSU tallied ten runs in the sixth inning. Holmes, Hull, Ofarril-Ortiz, Mims, Weaver, and Holmes all drove in runs in the inning.
MVSU launched three home runs on the day. Hull went yard in the sixth inning. Holmes put one out in the sixth inning. Victor Figueroa had a homer in the first inning.
MVSU tallied 20 hits in the game. Ryan Brown, Narvin Booker, Figueroa, Holmes, Ofarril-Ortiz, Mims, Hull, and Weaver each managed multiple hits for Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils Varsity. Holmes, Figueroa, Booker, and Brown was the leader, collecting three hits.
MVSU tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Booker led the way with four.

The Diamond Devils will travel to Jonesboro, Ark., to compete against Arkansas State on Tuesday, February 27, at 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday, March 1, at 3:00 p.m.
