ITTA BENA, Miss.-Â The Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team will travel to Jackson, Miss., to continue conference play against Jackson State Lady Tigers on Saturday, February 4. Tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
Mississippi Valley State (2-18, 0-9 SWAC)Â Â Devilettes travel to conference leaders Jackson State to compete after dropping two against Southern (74-43) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (69-55).Â
Lexus Eagle Chasings was named Impact Player of the Game back-to-back for her performances in conference contests against Southern.
Against Southern Lady Jaguars, Eagle Chasing was the leading scorer for the Devilettes, scoring 14 points. In addition, she recorded three rebounds and two steals.Â
Against Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Golden Lions, Eagle Chasing arose as the leading scorer. She scored 16 points while adding six rebounds, four steals, and two assists to her game. Fellow Devilette Zaria Harleaux recorded a double-double performance. She collected 11 rebounds and put ten points on the scoreboard for MVSU.Â
Harleaux is currently ranked first in the SWAC in rebounds, collecting 8.3 rebounds per game.Â
Jackson State (11-8, 8-1 SWAC)Â Â hosts MVSU after defeating Southern Lady Jaguars, 64-57, on the road Monday evening.Â
The Lady Tigers had two players score in double figures, led by Ti'Ian Boler, who had 17 points, and Jariyah Covington tacked on 15 points. In addition, Covington registered seven rebounds and six assists. Daphane White pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds in the road win for JSU.Â
Angel Jackson is currently ranked second in the SWAC in blocks, averaging 2.3 blocks per game; furthermore, she averages 7.1 rebounds per game. Against the Lady Jaguars, she added nine points to the scoreboard for JSU while collecting six rebounds and three blocks to her game.
