DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Mississippi Valley State Diamond Devils fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 13-3 loss to Bethune Cookman on Friday at the Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
The Diamond Devils struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Bethune Cookman, giving up 13 runs.
The Wildcats got things started in the first inning. Pena drove in three when Pena homered. B-CU scored six runs in the sixth inning. Garret Chun, Hylan Hall, Robert Moya, Irvin Escobar, and Garcia all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
MVSU tallied one home run on the day. Ryan Brown had a long ball in the seventh inning as he went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Diamond Devils in hits.
Zachery Sigmon took the loss for MVSU. The right-hander went five innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and striking out five.
