Delta Devils Drop Road Loss to Prairie View A&M

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX - Mississippi Valley State University's men's basketball slips to Prairie View A&M University 70-61 at the William Nicks Building on Saturday night.

MVSU (0-16, 0-3 SWAC) opened the game leading PVAMU for majority of the first half with the largest lead being 8 points with 0:55 seconds left remaining in the first half. MVSU held on to a 30-25 lead over PVAMU going into halftime shooting 44 percent from the floor. 
 
PVAMU (6-10, 1-2 SWAC) After intermission, Prairie View A&M managed to gain control and had a 59-53 lead before going on an 8-0 run to grow the lead to 67-53 with 3:28 to go remaining in the second half.
 
MVSU attempted to close the scoring margin, but PVAMU pulled away with the 71-60 win.

MVSU was led by three players scoring in double figures, led by Rayquan Brown, who finished the game with 17 points and seven rebounds. Donovan Sanders added 16 points, five steals, and seven rebounds, and Reginald Reynolds finished with 11 points, three assists, and two rebounds off the bench.
 
Game Notes
  • The game saw eight lead changes and six ties. MVSU with the largest lead eight (0:55 seconds in the first half. PVAMU with the largest lead being 16 (1:28 remaining in the second half). 
  • Mississippi Valley State finished the night shooting 44.9 (22-of-549) percent from the floor and 36.4 (4-of-11) percent from beyond the arc, and 75 (12-of-16) percent from the free-throw line.
  • MVSU won the rebounding battle 32-24.
  • MVSU led PVAMU in second chance points 12-6.
  • MVSU scored 16 bench points.
  • MVSU defense forced 13 PVAMU turnovers.
