ITTA BENA, Miss – Mississippi Valley State University's student-athletes put forth an outstanding academic performance during the Fall 2023 semester, compiling a combined 3.12 term grade point average. 
 
In the fall 2023, Mississippi Valley State University had 161 student-athletes who attained above a 3.0 grade point average. There were 28 student athletes who earned above a 4.0.
 
"I am excited and very proud of our student athletes for attaining such a commendable accomplishment,'' said Director of Athletic Academic Support, Gloria Newell. "This achievement emphasizes their dedication not only to their respective sports but also to their academic pursuits. Congratulations to all, and let's continue the excellent work ahead!"
 
As a collective, Mississippi Valley State University student-athletes combined for a 3.12 grade point average in the Fall 2023 semester. Women's soccer led the way with a 3.47 GPA, just ahead of women's cross-country who earned a 3.43 GPA. Softball earned a 3.38 GPA, and women's tennis who earned a 3.26 GPA.
 
Baseball achieved a 3.25 GPA, men's tennis earned a 3.21 GPA, and men's cross-country earned a 3.14 GPA. Men's basketball earned a 3.02 GPA, and women's track and field earned a 3.01 GPA.
 
28 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA, while 61 student-athletes earned between a 3.5 and 3.99 GPA, and 72 student-athletes had a 3.0-3.49.
