The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils kicked off their matchup against Alabama State with an explosive start, jumping to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Ty'Jarian Williams ignited the offense with a 1-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a 28-yard touchdown pass to Jaxson Davis, capping a near-perfect start for MVSU.

However, Alabama State quickly countered, closing the gap to 14-13 by the end of the first quarter. Despite a 43-yard field goal by Marko Jovisic that briefly put MVSU ahead 17-13, Alabama State took control in the second quarter with two rapid touchdowns, including an 84-yard bomb to Robert McMinn.

The Delta Devils' defense struggled to contain Alabama State's aerial attack, allowing 335 passing yards. Offensively, MVSU  50 rushing tallied yards, while Ty'Jarian Williams passed for 108 yards but couldn't overcome Alabama State's relentless pressure, which included four sacks.

Despite their valiant effort, MVSU ultimately fell 54-17, with Alabama State pulling away in the second half. Mississippi Valley State will look to bounce back as they continue to build on the positives from their early-game performance.
