ITTA BENA, MS. – Mississippi Valley State University Baseball won 15-5 in first game on Saturday March 2 at Magnolia Field to take the lead in the series 1-0 over Harris-Stowe State University. 
 
A homerun by Dreylin Holmes ends the game in the eighth inning as Valley takes game one in the series . Valley recorded 16 hits in the game and scored nine runs in the seventh inning. 
 
Starting pitcher Armando Sierra earned the win for Valley. Sierra surrendered eight hits, five runs over eight innings, striking out four and walking zero..
 
Jodany Ofarril-Ortiz went 3-for-4 with a solo homerun and three RBI's for MVSU.


GAME NOTES

• MVSU was led offensively by Jodany Ofarril-Ortiz who went 3-for-4 with a solo homerun and three RBI's for MVSU.
• Dreylin Holmes and Elias Pena each drove in three RBI's on.
• Will Menendez, Ty Washington, Davon Mims each had multiple hits.
• MVSU's highest-scoring inning was the seventh, when it pushed nine runs across.
• MVSU accumulated 16 hits in the game.
• MVSU's defense turned one double play.
