BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Mississippi Valley State University athletics program added its 37th inductee into the Southwestern Athletic Conference Hall of Fame on Friday afternoon after the league announced that former men's basketball player, director of compliance, and athletic director Ashley Robinson was listed among the class of 2025.

Robinson, currently in his eighth season as the Vice President and Director of Athletics at Jackson State University, got his starts on the hardwood in Itta Bena, lacing them up under the tutelage of fellow Hall of Famer Lafayette Stribling from 1999-00 to 2002-03.

While attending MVSU as a student-athlete, the Delta Devils legend became the school's all-time career assists leader (601) while also holding the single-season records for total assists (201), assists per game (7.4), and free-throw percentage (86.5%), all during his 2000-01 Sophomore season.

Over his 113 games donning the Green and White, the 2011 Mississippi Valley State University Hall of Fame selection averaged 10.0 points, 5.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.6 steals a night while shooting 36.5% from the floor and draining 225 three-pointers.

He was bestowed the honor of MVSU Athlete of the Year in 2002 while also receiving the President's Scholar Award in that same year.

After approximately four years away from Valley following his graduation, Robinson returned to the Mississippi delta to take on the role of compliance director, leaving once again to assist the SWAC office and Prairie View A&M University before making one last stop at Valley State as its Athletic Director.

In his brief, but impactful nine-month stint as AD which lasted the entirety of the 2012-13 academic calendar, the athletic program had its best season to date, winning a trio of SWAC Tournament Championships and sending all three teams (men's cross country, women's soccer, and softball) to the NCAA Tournament.

After getting shut out of last year's list, Mississippi Valley State University has now had at least one member inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame in seven of the past eight years (excluding 2020).

Robinson will now join the likes of Jerry Rice, Jerome Blake, Jessie L. Harris, David "Deacon" Jones, and other Delta Devils/Devilettes greats in the conference's hallowed halls, becoming the sixth men's basketball associated member from MVSU alongside current Head Coach George Ivory (2019), Eric Strothers (2018), Alphonso Ford (2014), Lafayette Stribling (2006), and William Ware (1993).
