HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball program saw a different student-athlete step up in a big way during the Rainbow Classic as Daniel Mayfield brought home some hardware as a member of the 2025 All-Tournament Team.
Mayfield, a senior forward from Toccoa, Georgia,
set season-highs of 28 points, 11 field goals, five free throws made and three assists vs. Manhattan.m while also recorded a 2025-best two steals at Hawaii.

The former Itawamba Community College, Mars Hill, and Spartanburg Methodist transfer led the Delta Devils in field goal percentage (56.8% / 21-of-37), free throw percentage (100% / 9-of-9), points (54 / 18.0), field goals (21 / 7.0), rebounds (19 / 6.3), free throws made (9 / 3.0) and blocks (2 / 0.7).
The Franklin Prep High School product also tallied six assists (2.0 p/g), three steals (1.0 p/g) plus a trio of three-pointers (1.0 p/g).
Mayfield and the men from Itta Bena remain on the other side of the country, albeit on the mainland this time, for their next game on Saturday at 3 p.m. central time at Cal State Bakersfield.
